2006 Mardi Gras Pictures

Faquetigue Courir de Mardi Gras, Feb. 28, 2006 This is a new Mardi Gras run near Eunice. The photos were taken about 10 a.m. The young child in the photo in the first row has a sack of potatoes to give to the Mardi Gras for their gumbo. He is a bit reluctant, but his brother is clearly enjoying the visit. More photos of the run are posted at the Pine Leaf Boys' web site. Click on thumbnails to access larger photos. Basile Courir de Mardi Gras, Feb. 28, 2006 These photos were taken about 7:30 a.m. when the Basile Mardi Gras were the only courir already on their run. The back of the Mardi Gras' costume in the first photo reads "What Happens in Basile Stays in Basile"--maybe not so much in the Internet age. Potic Rider is shown leading the Mardi Gras in their song. Other photos show pestering and begging, plus one Mardi Gras who became airborne. Click on thumbnails to access larger photos.
Tee-Mamou Courir de Mardi Gras, Feb. 28, 2006 These photos were taken about 8:30 a.m. at the first two stops of the Tee-Mamou men's run. After they arrive, the Mardi Gras sing their song, dance with anyone in sight, beg, and then chase chickens. Click on thumbnails to access larger photos.
